AIM away message question, plz help!?

ok so when i put my away message on, i click hide ims, close my buddy list, and usually go away from my computer.. now i have a labtop so after a while it turns off in the stand by mode to save energy but then when i put it back on, i wasnt signed on showing away that whole time.. what should i do so it stays signed on?
