Is freedom a god given desire? is god freedom obsessed?

i used to think george w was immature claiming this. i think the good ol boy might have been on to something quite profound. he just didn't know it. i also think god wants us to be free, even of Himself...even of a god. god respects freedom above all else. he allows us to set out our lives however we want. this is a blessing. christopher hitchens is on to something as well. he just needs to redefine what god may be. religion is made by man as we realize there is most likely a god. however this god doesn't reveal himself. it is our nature to want some level of comfort and control, but god grants us freedom. as i look at the turmoil in the world there is a basic desire to be free. god loves i believe through what i call harsh freedom. he created and left. he gave us only the capacity to love and take responsibility. we also desire two things control/comfort and freedom/dignity. when we realize that freedom is the more noble, we fight to protect it above all else. and when we realize that through freedom the collective needs of society can still be met, we feel blessed. one can achieve comfort through control ie slavery dictatorship repression etc. but when each individual realizes comfort and freedom can coexist, one never turns back. hitchens might be a fan of god after all. possibly god himself doesn't require worship or praise because He has no desire to be a celestial dictator...amazingly good for us all.
