How do i cycle water for tetras and ghost shrimp tank?

No matter what kind of fish you have, you will always need to cycle the water. Every tank no matter how big or small it is needs to have a filter and heater. Pebbles, gravel, and sand are all acceptable depending on which you want to buy. First, i would put water into my tank and cycle it by leaving the filter on for 3 days. Have your water tested by bringing in a sample of your water to any petstore where they will test your water for free. If the water is good, do a 20% water change. (Take out 20% of your water and add in de-chlorinated water). Keep it cycling until the 5th day where you again test your water. If it is good, then you can start buying your fish. I would only suggest buying 2 fish at a time because when you start a brand new tank, fish will die. If your fish are still living after about a week or two, then you can add more fish in. Just make sure you don't overstock your fish tank because fish can die from that too. Rule of thumb: one inch of the fish (adult size) per gallon. You dont have to worry about the ghost shrimp though. They don't take up a lot of space, so you don't have to count them.
